Ivan and Breanne [Quadra Cortes Island Wedding Photography]
The smooth flow of this Cortes Island wedding created a wonderful container for tender emotions and ecstatic joyous expression. Tears, smiles, hug circles and heart-melting vows culminating in wild dancing into the wee hours! It was such a pleasure to photograph Ivan and Breanne's early-August celebration—not merely because the wedding was held just a few doors up the street from us, at our neighbors' lovely waterfront home (Ivan's folks' place), but because the vibe and pulse of the day was joy-filled and incredibly celebratory. And because Ivan and Breanne are a decidedly kind-hearted pair. It's the hallmark of a well-planned wedding, perhaps, to have a day that flows with seeming effortlessness from one event into the next. It is also the hallmark of an extremely well-planned wedding to have a dolphin pod 'fly-by' scheduled perfectly to entertain the guests leading up to the ceremony. Nice touch, you guys! Another sweet touch was having a front row seat at the ceremony reserved for a whole gaggle of British relatives who gathered in full wedding finery at 2am Greenwich time for a Skypes-eye view or the proceedingsWe felt lucky to shoot a wedding where the caterers, florist, bar-tender, assorted helpers and many of the guests are friends and neighbors. Ivan's mum, Penny, summed it up nicely stating that "it takes an island to host a wedding." Cortes Island was truly out in force for this event. When I was finished for the night, and back home putting away the gear, (around 2am), the night air was still filled with sounds of a whooping good party. Good thing everyone in the neighborhood was there— so nobody was left to complain.
