Georgina and Kevin were married right here on Cortes Island.  The first wedding ever held at the Klahoose Hall,  located at the mouth of Squirrel Cove.  The beautiful new Klahoose Hall is also where Kevin first proposed to Georgina.  The ceremony was a wonderful hybrid of Welsh tradition and local First Nation's tradition starting with ceremonial drumming and ending with a choir singing Welsh hymns.  The couple did a pre-ceremony 'first look' in dramatic fashion with Georgina arriving by boat to meet Kevin and see each other for the first time in full wedding regalia.  After the ceremony a group from Sliammon First Nation led a powerful and hilarious competitive chant with the women and men separated and trying to out sing one another by turns.  The wedding also encompassed a child's birthday with a whole separate cake and blessing for little Payton who went on to be the one to finally liberate the candy from the pinatas.
