Newcastle Island Provincial Park is Darshan's childhood home. Her father was a ferry captain on the Nanaimo/Newcastle route and served as the dock manager. Her family lived year-round on the dock in a houseboat. So returning to Newcastle is always an emotional homecoming. Getting the opportunity to photograph a wedding on Newcastle was joyously welcome.Caitlin and Arthur's wedding was a camping event, with the ceremony held outdoors at Brownie Bay and the reception convened in the Pavilion. Newcastle Island provides so many gorgeous vistas, and picturesque spots, it doesn't really matter which direction you walk while taking portraits. We went East, counter clockwise on the loop trail, but didn't get very far before we'd filled our memory cards with many many sweet shots. Caitlin and Arthur's great style, flare and obvious chemistry certainly helped here. The reception featured a number of ideas we've considered 'borrowing' for our own up-coming wedding. The pie bar, for one, was a big hit and made for fun photos. We are definitely stealing that idea. We also loved the 20 second dance breaks during the speech portion of the night to keep everyone lively. Also, the slow motion bar fight..... Just to keep people on their toes ya know.
